The rules for using recat.
Last updated 10 October 2026
These terms cover the recat desktop app, the recat.tv website and clip share links. They apply to gaming cafés that install recat ("operators") and to people who play on those PCs and share clips ("players"). By installing or using recat, or by creating an account, you agree to them.
1. What recat is
recat records gameplay on a café PC, saves highlights, lets players edit clips with text instructions, and creates unlisted links for sharing them. The service is provided by the team at recat.tv, reachable at i@endtail.com. Our privacy policy explains what recat records and where it goes; it is part of these terms.
2. Café operators
- recat is licensed to cafés under a separate agreement that covers seats, pricing and term. Contact i@endtail.com to set one up. If that agreement and these terms conflict, the agreement wins.
- You may install recat only on PCs you own or control, and only in the number of seats you are licensed for.
- You are responsible for telling players that gameplay, game audio and (if you enable it) the microphone are recorded on your PCs, and for any notice or consent your local law requires, including for players under 18.
- You decide what happens to recordings left on your PCs between customers. We do not have access to them.
- You may not resell, sublicense, rent or lend recat, or use it to build a competing product.
3. Players and accounts
- You can use recat on a café PC without an account. Sharing a clip or keeping clips across visits requires an account, which you can create with Discord or an email address.
- You must be 13 or older to create an account. Keep your sign-in method secure; what happens under your account is your responsibility.
- One person per account. Do not impersonate anyone or use someone else's account.
4. Your clips
- You own the clips you record and the edits you make, subject to the rights of the game's publisher in the game footage itself.
- When you share a clip, you give us permission to store it, serve it to anyone who has the link, generate thumbnails and previews, and process it as needed to run the service. This permission ends when you delete the clip, except for copies in routine backups, which expire on their own.
- When you use AI editing, the clip and your instruction are sent to a third-party model provider to produce the edit, as described in the privacy policy.
- You can delete any clip you shared at any time. The link stops working immediately.
5. What you may not do
Do not use recat or recat.tv to:
- record or share anything you do not have the right to record or share, including other people's voices or faces without permission where that is required;
- share content that is illegal, harassing, threatening, sexually explicit involving minors, or that promotes violence or hatred against people;
- share malware, phishing, or anything designed to compromise other people's devices or accounts;
- scrape, mirror or bulk-download share pages, or probe, overload or interfere with the service;
- reverse-engineer the app except where the law expressly allows it;
- circumvent seat limits, licensing or any technical restriction.
We may remove content and suspend or close accounts that break these rules. Anyone can report a share link to us at i@endtail.com.
6. The service itself
- recat is software and it will have bugs. Recording can fail, clips can be lost, highlights can be missed, and AI edits can be wrong. Keep your own copies of anything that matters to you.
- We may change, pause or discontinue features. We will give operators reasonable notice of changes that affect their agreement.
- Game publishers may restrict recording of their games. You are responsible for complying with the terms of the games you play.
- recat is not affiliated with or endorsed by any game publisher, Discord, Google or Cloudflare. Game names and logos belong to their owners.
7. No warranty, limited liability
recat is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss, lost data, lost revenue, or lost profits arising from recat, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount the operator paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim arose, or, for players, to zero. Some places do not allow these limits, in which case they apply only as far as that law permits. Nothing here limits liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
8. Ending things
Players can stop using recat and delete their account at any time by emailing us. Operators can end their agreement under its terms. We can suspend or close accounts that break these terms, and we can end the service with reasonable notice. Sections 4 (for content we still host), 7 and 9 survive.
9. Legal bits
- These terms are governed by the law of the country where recat's operating company is established, and disputes go to the courts there, unless consumer law in your country gives you the right to use your local courts.
- If part of these terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- These terms, the privacy policy and any operator agreement are the whole agreement between you and us about recat.
- We may update these terms. We will update the date at the top and, for material changes, tell operators and show a notice in the app. Continuing to use recat after a change means you accept it.
